Funeral for a Friend

Memory and humanity
Victory records

Music is good but very repetitive and doesn't change. I don't like the vocals. The bass is ok.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Stellastarr

Somewhere across forever (single)
Tiswas records

The vocals are great. This band sounds like a punk band but they also sound too happy to be your standard punk band.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Callisto

Providence
Fullsteam records

The vocals are beyond awful most of the time and awesome at other times. A lot of the music sounds random. There are some good parts but not enough. This band needs to try harder.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Madina Lake

Attics to Eden
Roadrunner records

The first half of this album is pretty decent. The later half goes off in a fizzle. The keyboards are the best part of this album; everything else is ok. The good parts of this album are really good but, there isn't enough for me to
tell anyone to go get this album.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Monsters are Waiting

Fascination
Retone records

The bass is really good. The vocals are good. The drums are decently done. This band has a decent almost punk sound.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

The Dangerous Summer

Reach for the sun
Hopeless records

The terrible vocals over power the mediocre and very repetitive guitar riffs.
The drums are ok but they could be better. This is another band that sounds too
much like blink 182, I don't like it.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Tantric

Mind control
Silent majority group

I don't like the tantric songs I have heard on the radio. I thought I would give  this band a chance with what I have heard others saying about them but I was wrong. I don't like any of it.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Echo us

The tide decides
Muse parallele

Elevator music sprinkled with a few heavy guitar riffs and something else I can't quite put my finger on. Fans of Phil Collins might enjoy this one.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Robert Gomez

Pine sticks and phosphorus
Nova posta

The vocals are very weak, the music is slow and uninspiring. If you have a baby that you're trying to put to bed; play this album and he will be asleep in no time.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Globes on Remote

The woo-Hoo-Hoo
No record label (self released)

Good brass section, decent vocals, ok guitar riffs, and awesome electronic eight bit sound effects. I normally don't like this style of music but; there is something interesting about them.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

28 Degrees Taurus

How do you like your love?
No record label (self released)

The female vocals would sound great if they had more power behind them. The drums are lackluster and the guitar fails to impress. The bass lines are decent when they are actually audible.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Scott Pinkmountain & The Golden Bolts of Tone

The Full sun
Howells Transmitter

Too slow too jazzy. I don't like it but someone with a softer taste in music will. On a side note there are some decent drums.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

The Gothsicles

Sega Lugosi's Dead
WTII Records

The vocals are awesome. The drums are impressive and the synthesizers are great. This band isn't like other goth bands; their music is too fast, the lyrics are high pitched and keep up with the rest of the music, it's goth but different and I like it.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine

West Indian Girl

4th & wall
Milan Records

The bass lines are great. The drums don't impress but do their job. Guitar riffs
are basic yet have something beautiful about them. The vocals are weak. This
album sounds like what you relax to, if you're looking for music that motivates
look somewhere else.

Human Aftertaste

Eat our meat
Octopoid productions

The singer sounds like Dr. Frankenfurter. There are some awesome guitar riffs. The drums are decent sometimes and horrible the next. This album doesn't have enough for me to recommend buying it, but there are some good ideas at work. I have a feeling that this bands next album will be better.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Jeff Wagners Tunnel of Love

An Eternity of Blood
Glorious Alchemical records

This is a strange album. One track kind of sounds like swing music, another track has a lot of heavy metal influence, then you have a jazz sounding track followed by a track that sounds industrial. The singers voice is annoying, if you can look past that the music itself is pretty good on the majority of the tracks.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Mind Flux Funeral

Teatro de Revelacion
Bit riot records

This band does industrial music very well. Fans of ministry will enjoy. Great vocals, dark lyrics, and strange sounds arranged into a uniquely heavy industrial songs. Add the drums and you have an almost perfect industrial album.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

The Bodies Obtained

From the top of my tree
Finding you attractive music

Everything is annoying except the drums and the bass lines and those are far too
repetitive for me to like for an entire track.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Monstrum sepsis

Artifacts
WTII Records

There are no vocals; just samples from different political debates and all of which are used quite effectively. All of the synthesizers are wonderful. The drums are basic yet never skip a beat or fall out of tempo. There is a lot of good music here with a strong political message that many industrial fans will enjoy.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Place and Time

The Rockwells
Migrant records

I hear some good bass lines and decent drums. The vocals are kind of weak over half the time but, they are full of emotion. There are a lot of things to like on this album, it's not my favorite, but it is good enough for me to recommend.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Slayer

World painted blood
Columbia records

Slayer is one of my favorite bands, they nave never disappointed me and this album is the best one yet. Everything is fast and hateful just the way I like it.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

We the Kings

We the kings
S-curve records

As soon as I hear the vocals and the way too happy guitar riffs I say to myself "I hate this".

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Thieves and Villians

Movement
Victory records

I hate blink 182 and this band sounds like a rip off of them.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Pride Parade

Dose
No label (self released)

The guitar riffs are way too slow. The vocals sound like they were recorded in a tunnel which makes them almost inaudible. The drums don't impress either. The bass is good though.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Method of Destruction

Red, White & Screwed
Index entertainment

The perfect mashup of punk and metal. This band sounds like a slayer and zeke team up, I love it.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Mastodon

Blood mountain
Warner Bros./ Reprise records

Powerful vocals, fast guitar riffs and drums, and heavy bass. Metal magic, this album is fast and heavy from start to finish. If you don't like mastodon this album might change your mind.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Sound of Mass Production

The treatment
Music Ration Entertainment

Awesome vocals full of anger. Guitar riffs are heavy but slow and repetitive yet they fit perfectly with the rest of the music. The cynical lyrics are the highlight of this album. This album is pretty decent.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

David Gahan

Hourglass remixes
Virgin records

All eleven tracks are remixes of the same four songs. Each track sounds
unique, has vocals, and progresses decently. I have never heard these songs
before; or the artist but, these remixes make me curious about the original
versions. I like what I hear.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Bedrock 10 - John Digweed

Past present future
Bedrock records

Techno. Generic techno. Can't tell when the tracks end or begin, everything sounds the same but has good bass. Has a few good moments, I didn't like the first half of this album but, the later part of the album started to sound ok. Not my favorite album or style of music, but someone will like it.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Deadmau5

For lack of a better name
Ultra records

Just when you think this album is going to repeat itself over and over again, it surprises you by changing it up at the last second. Each track is upbeat and the music is always changing to something better. If you're into techno then you will love this album.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

DJ Sasha

The emFire collection: mixed, Unmixed & Remixed
Ultra Records

Each track is between five and a half minutes to over twelve minutes long. None of the tracks sound the same but they don't progress very far and end up repeating the same notes over and over again. Even though there are some decent sounds on this album it is far too repetitive for me to recommend.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Soul Stalker

A way out
Manic depression records

Decent vocals and lyrics. Each track is clearly a different track. Even though each track is repetitive; they have a good sound that starts off simple and slowly builds up nicely but doesn't really change. This is a decent album that should be given a chance.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Chase frank

Midnight Manor e.p.

Great lyrics and vocals. Drums are spot on the tempo but that's it. The guitar is slow and repetitive yet has a good punk rock feel to it. The bass makes up for what the guitar lacks. All three tracks are nicely done, this band hasn't been signed yet but I have high hopes, they have a unique cabaret punk sound.

 Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

The Spiritual Bat

Through the shadows
Alchemist music

The singer has a beautiful voice. Awesome bass and the drums are surprisingly good for this style of music. The flute is either amazing or sounds like the flutist is trying too hard but, the synthesizers blend wonderfully with it the guitar could be better but is in no way bad. The vocals alone are enough reason to own this album and support this band.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

The Cemetary Girlz

Smoke my brain
Manic depression records

The bass is quite good. The guitar is slow but, they fit in nicely. The drums keep time but, there's nothing special about them. The vocals are so weak that the singer sounds like he is mumbling into the microphone. I'm sure the lyrics are good and dark; if I could only hear or understand them. Death rock fans will enjoy.

Bajskorv

Scars and stripes
Buried electric

I love industrial music but the singer of this band sounds too much like ogre from skinny puppy and the music sounds like the tracks that pig face threw away.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Android Lust

Dragonfly
Synthellec music

I have never heard this band before and this cd only has four tracks. The first two tracks are different remixes of the same song ( I love both). I really like this band and would really like to here more from them; if you are a fan of android lust you will enjoy this cd.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

Cazals

What of our fortune
Kitsune/ The hours/ fontana records

The guitar is peppy yet repetitive. The bass is great. Drums fit this style of music. The keyboards and synthesizers range from amazing to terribly annoying within the same track. The vocals are powerfully weak and sound like the singer is trying to be a punker without the attitude. Some people will like this album; but I am not one of those people.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.

The Awakening

Tales of absolution and obsoletion
Intervention music

Lyrics are dark and the vocals are ok. The guitar riffs are basic but do their job. Drums keep time like a metronome. The piano and keyboard are the highlight of this album. The goth scene will enjoy this album.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

The Bodies Obtained

The Bodies Obtained : Dead Plans

Dead Plains
Finding you attractive music

Decent death rock. Good vocals and dark lyrics. Great keyboards. The guitar riffs are too simple and the drums barely do the job. The bass is awesome. This might not be the best album of all time but what it does have is alright. If you like death rock than you might like this album.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

Ministry

Adios
Megaforce records

All of your favorite ministry songs done live. Album comes complete with two live DVDs from their final world tour.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

Veil & Subdue

The courtship of the black sultan
Masque production

Female vocals are beautiful, the male vocals are cold. The lyrics are dark and descriptive. The music itself comes and goes, at times it is amazing then boring. This is more of a soundtrack to an opera or play than an album. The artists an musicians who wrote and produced this album are geniuses, if this isn't already a play or movie, it really needs to be.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

Woven

Designer Codes
The Cat toy factory

The singer has an amazing voice. The percussion is great. The guitar is not as good as the bass. The keyboards are awesome. This album is good for when it is time to mellow out.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

Deadmau5

Random album title
Ultra records

Your standard techno album, every track sounds like a variation of the previous
track with a few twists and turns to make it seem less repetitive.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

Snuttock

Carved & Sutured

It's hard to write a review for an album that is mostly remixes and it's even tougher when the band isn't even signed to a label. Those minor complaints aside this album rocks of pure industrial music. You probably won't find this bands music in stores, but that's what the Internet is for; go to Snuttock.com and order a copy for yourself.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

The Residents

The Voice Of Midnight
Cryptic corporation (mute records limited)

This album tells the story of "Der Sandman" by E.T.A Hoffman in twelve tracks. The majority of the lyrics are spoken. All of the music is unbelievably beautiful. This whole album feels like a Tim Burton movie. If you like the residents or concept albums; you can't go wrong with this one.

Keenan Carter
for MovementMagazine.com

.We.got.this.far

Blunt Force Volume
Spiral Chords records

Great percussion. Guitar riffs are basic but fitting for this style of music. Lyrics are good and dark. Vocals range from inaudible and distorted to clear as day. The keyboard steals the show. This band has a lot of talent; industrial fans will have a new favorite band to add to their list.
